Ilita Lodge is situated between George and Mossel Bay, almost halfway between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth on the East coast of South Africa. Mossel Bay is an unpretentious coastal town which has grown to become a busy holiday destination, the modern docking facilities at the port attract many international travellers.
The climate is mild most of the year, there are many sporting facilities available, both water based and land based, adventure enthusiasts will also find plenty to do. Mossel Bay has a rich history, as far back as 1488 Bartholomew Dias dropped anchor here. The town became a busy export harbour and now has a wealth of museums, including a Maritime Museum, documenting all the interesting events and natural history so far.
Directions to Ilita lodge from the N2 off ramp to Great Brak River
1. Drive towards the town and down 'Long Street'. The road bends in a circular direction.
2. Once you have crossed the river take the 2nd road to the left which is called 'Mossienes Laan'.
3. Then take the first road to the left that is called 'Voorbrug Rd'.
4. Continue to follow this road for about 1.9km (just over 1 mile) until you find a dirt road going to the right and towards the ocean. Follow this road and do not take any turn-offs. The road ends at Ilita Lodge.
